NGO for Grocery Donation: Ek Parivartan Foundation

Hunger and malnutrition continue to be pressing issues in India, affecting millions of people daily. The Ek Parivartan Foundation has stepped up to address this challenge through its Grocery Donation Initiative, ensuring that underprivileged families have access to essential food supplies. This initiative is designed to combat food insecurity, support families in crisis, and promote community well-being.

Our Vision and Mission

Vision:

To eliminate hunger and ensure every household has access to basic grocery supplies needed for a healthy and dignified life.

Mission:

To provide essential grocery items to low-income families, daily wage workers, and those affected by natural disasters or economic hardships, while fostering a culture of sharing and support in society.

Key Activities of the Grocery Donation Initiative

1. Monthly Grocery Kits Distribution

We provide pre-packed grocery kits to families in need. Each kit typically includes:

  • Rice

  • Wheat flour

  • Lentils (dal)

  • Cooking oil

  • Sugar and salt

  • Spices and tea

  • Basic toiletries (soap, toothpaste, etc.)

These kits are designed to support a family of four for at least two weeks.

2. Community Grocery Banks

We have set up community grocery banks in various areas where individuals can:

  • Donate surplus food or groceries.

  • Access groceries during emergencies or shortages.

3. Emergency Relief Support

During crises such as floods, droughts, or pandemics, we:

  • Distribute emergency grocery supplies to affected families.

  • Collaborate with local authorities and organizations for efficient relief operations.

  • Ensure swift delivery of essential items to remote or inaccessible regions.

4. Nutritional Support for Children and Pregnant Women

Special attention is given to vulnerable groups. We provide:

  • Nutritional supplements for children and lactating mothers.

  • Milk powder, cereals, and fortified foods for malnourished children.

  • Awareness sessions on healthy eating habits within available resources.

5. Partnering with Local Farmers

To promote sustainability and support the agricultural community, we:

  • Procure fresh produce directly from small-scale farmers.

  • Minimize food wastage by utilizing surplus harvests.

  • Encourage organic and locally sourced produce.

6. Urban and Rural Outreach Programs

We extend our grocery donation services to:

  • Urban slums and marginalized communities.

  • Rural areas where access to food markets is limited.

  • Migrant workers and their families.

Stories of Change

1. A New Beginning for Sunita’s Family

Sunita, a widowed mother of three, struggled to make ends meet after losing her husband. Through our Grocery Donation Initiative, she received monthly grocery kits that ensured her children never went to bed hungry. Today, Sunita has started a small tailoring business and supports her family independently.

2. Hope During the Pandemic

During the COVID-19 lockdown, thousands of migrant workers were left without jobs or food. Our emergency relief efforts provided grocery kits to over 100,000 workers, helping them survive the crisis and return to their hometowns with dignity.

Future Goals

To expand the impact of the Grocery Donation Initiative, we aim to:

  • Establish permanent grocery banks in 50+ cities across India.

  • Launch a digital platform for donors to contribute online and track their donations.

  • Reach 2 million beneficiaries by 2030.

  • Partner with global organizations to enhance funding and logistics support.
